Every time I bid on a lot, I am told that I am not the winning bidder and the next bid is higher. What is going on?

When a person places a bid on an item on WineCommune, they have the option of placing a bid equal to the next bid level, or one equal to the maximum they are prepared to pay. If they bid the latter, this is called placing a maxbid. In that situation, the system will enter the user's bid as the next bid level, but remember that they are prepared more. For example, if the current bid is $10, the next bid is $11. You can bid $11 or something higher, such as $20. If you bid $20, your bid is entered as $11 but the system remembers you bid $20. If someone bids later on, their bid will have to be higher than $20. The system bids on your behalf up to the amount of your maxbid. Until someone bids higher than $20, your bid will be kept as the winning bid.
