ABOUT KENSINGTON’S WINE AUCTIONEERS, INC.
Kensington’s Wine Auctioneers & Brokers, Inc. was founded over four years ago in New York & California. In April of 2003 Ms. Jennifer Laks, then an employee of Kensington’s, was offered the opportunity to purchase the company from its owner, which she happily did. With the help of one consultant and numerous employees, Ms. Laks has built one of Chicago’s premier wine auction houses. Since April of 2003 Kensington’s has consolidated its business and relocated to and incorporated in The City of Chicago. Kensington’s continues its monthly internet auctions, has held six live auctions and two interactive wine tastings during its internet auctions which have been co-hosted by The Wine Commune of San Francisco.
With over 5,000 combined positive feedback testimonials to its credit listed on The Wine Commune, Kensington’s has earned a reputation as a service oriented wine auction company that the savvy wine collector can depend on to provide the finest and rarest wines at great value and with excellent provenance.
Kensington’s is Chicago’s only female owned wine auction house and Chicago’s ONLY wine auction house that does NOT charge a seller’s commission. Kensington’s pre-auction wine tastings feature the finest wines and Champagnes at a nominal fee of $50.00 per person. Kensington’s continues to hold quarterly live auctions at various venues throughout Chicago to supplement its monthly internet auctions currently co-hosted by The Wine Commune.
Kensington’s Retail Wine Shop will open once again in 2008 on North Michigan Avenue. This new location also will serve as the live auction sale room, complete with a wine tasting bar, special event venue and professional grade wine storage. Kensington’s Wine Shop will once again become a destination for avid wine collectors looking for vintage wines from top producers from around the world at affordable, low prices not normally found elsewhere. Look for upcoming announcements as our new location on North Michigan Avenue takes shape.
Kensington’s is proud to announce that this particular auction and tasting will be hosted by Pops for Champagne, a Chicago Institution and the nations’s most acclaimed Champagne bar. Pops Shop, adjacent to the main bar, is the nation’s only dedicated sparkling wine and champagne retail store, offering an eclectic selection of Champagnes and sparkling wines from around the world. Pops for Champagne is located at 601 North State Street in downtown Chicago.
