Chateau Trotanoy - Vintage - 1961 The 1961... is unquestionably the greatest Trotanoy in the post World War II era. The wine's saturated, thick, inky, plummy color reveals slight amber at the edge. The magnificent bouquet of jammy black-raspberries, smoke, cloves, tar, and caramel is a knock-out. With dense, unctuous, thick, sweet, rich flavors loaded with glycerin and extract, this massive, full-bodied, stunningly rich, fully mature wine is capable of lasting for another 10-20 years. Chateau Latour - Vintage - 1928 The wine exhibited an astonishing bouquet of hickory wood, smoke, walnuts, and gobs of sweet black truffle and raspberry-scented fruit. Full-bodied, with layers of sweet, expansive fruit, with no hard edges, this large-scaled wine still possesses phenomenal flavor concentration, as well as marvelous aromatic and flavor dimension. One of the great wines of the century, it is a winemaking tour de force! It revealed little tannin and appeared completely mature. I found it to be in superb condition at 65-years of age, so who among us would argue that it will not last another 20-25 years? Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/94 1 High Shoulder. 1 Mid Shoulder. 2 Bin Stained Labels. 1 Slightly Nicked Label. 2 Slightly Oxidized Capsules. 2 Bottles per lot $2500 - 3400 |

Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 1945 A consistent 100-point wine (only because my point scale stops at that number), the 1945 Mouton-Rothschild is truly one of the immortal wines of the century. This wine is easily identifiable because of its remarkably exotic, over-ripe, sweet nose of black fruits, coffee, tobacco, mocha, and Asian spices. An extraordinarily dense, opulent, and rich wine, with layers of creamy fruit, it behaves more like a 1947 Pomerol than a structured, powerful, and tannic 1945. The wine finishes with a 60+ second display of ripe fruit, extract, and sweet tannin. This remarkably youthful wine (only light amber at the edge) is mindboggling! Will it last another 50 years? Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/96 Top Shoulder. Very Slightly Faded And Bin Soiled Label. Label Was Lightly And Carefully Restored And Conserved By Noted Art/Painting Restorer/Conservationist Paola K. Lozano to Protect Label From Further Degradation. 1 Jeroboam (Bordeaux) per lot $34000 - 46000
This jeroboam of 1945 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild has been in the Audiffred family collection for fifty-two years and is the most important bottle that Edward Roberts International has offered at auction to date as well as one of the most significant wine auction offerings in recent years. It was originally a gift to Carlos Audiffred Jr"s great-grandfather Colonel Carlos Serrano who was the head of the Ministry of Government in Mexico and aid and advisor to the former President Miguel Aleman Valdes. Colonel Serrano who was also a noted collector of rare firearms was friendly with a number of prominent Americans including the Kennedy family, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart and Glenn Ford; and entertained them at his hunting lodges. This jeroboam was originally imported by Alfred Hart Distilleries of Los Angeles and sold through Vendome Wine Cellars in Beverly Hills. Chateau L' Angelus - Vintage - 2000 The finest effort since the 1989 and 1990, this dense purple-colored wine has an extravagantly ripe, concentrated style. The 2000 (in a new engraved bottle) offers up aromas of blackberry liqueur and vintage port. As the wine sits in the glass, graphite, wet stones, smoke, barbecue spices, and olives also make an appearance. It unfolds on the palate in layers, is full-bodied, big and rich yet incredibly poised, well-balanced, and pure. Quite backward, this is one of the greatest Angelus made to date. Yields were a modest 35 hectoliters per hectare. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 6 Into Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $900 - 1200 |

Chateau Calon-Segur - Vintage - 2000 A dense, traditionally crafted wine for those with patience, the 2000 Calon-Segur rivals the estate's finest wines of the last two decades, the 1995, 1988, and 1982. But be forewarned, this wine has already closed down, something totally in character with all top vintages from this estate. This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc exhibits a plum/purple color along with gorgeous aromas of creosote intermixed with spring flowers, black cherries, cassis, licorice, and stony, liquid minerals. A powerful, tannic, full-bodied and opulent wine, it possesses considerable structure that is reasonably well-concealed by considerable glycerin and intensity. Look for it to be at its best between 2012-2040. Patience, patience, patience! Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 6 Into Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $300 - 425 |

Chateau La Conseillante - Vintage - 2000 A tremendous effort, and certainly the best La Conseillante since the marvelous duo of 1989 and 1990, this deep ruby/plum/purple-colored wine offers up notes of blackberries and kirsch liqueur intermixed with licorice, incense, spice box, and copious amounts of toasty oak. It is a relatively powerful effort for La Conseillante, with more tannin and structure than most vintages possess. As the wine sits in the glass, black raspberries, blueberries, smoke along with floral notes emerge. There is tremendous purity, medium to full body, great precision and concentration. Unlike most vintages of La Conseillante, the 2000 will require patience. A bottle kept open refused to oxidize until day six! Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 Original Wooden Case. 3 Into Neck. 3 Base Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $700 - 950 |

Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou - Vintage - 2000 Floral notes intermixed with raspberries, black currants, minerals, and a hint of new oak emerge from the dense purple-colored 2000 Ducru-Beaucaillou. The wine is sweet, dense, and medium to full-bodied, with undeniable elegance and finesse as well as a finish that lasts for 45+ seconds. A wine of remarkable symmetry, balance, elegance, and minerality, it is the Lafite-Rothschild of St.-Julien. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 6 Into Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $400 - 550 |

Chateau Leoville-Poyferre - Vintage - 2000 Wow, this wine has really come on strong. A brilliant effort, it boasts an opaque purple color in addition to a gorgeously sweet nose (make that explosive nose) of blackberries and creme de cassis intermixed with minerals, smoke, and earth. The 2000 is opulent, full-bodied, and much more accessible than either of its two Leoville siblings, Leoville Las Cases or Leoville Barton, with low acidity, sweet tannin, and a layered, sumptuous finish. It continues to improve dramatically and looks to be a great success, rivaling the brilliant 1996 and 1990. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 6 Into Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $300 - 425 |

Chateau Lynch-Bages - Vintage - 2000 The 2000 Lynch-Bages exhibits a dense purple color, loads of glycerin and extract, big, muscular, sweet creme de cassis notes, with hints of new saddle leather, earth, and tobacco leaf. The 2000 is forceful yet plush, with a thick, juicy, succulent mid-palate, ripe tannin, and a long, layered finish. I know it will be tempting to pull corks on this wine in its youth, but it really will not hit its stride for 7-10 years and will last for at least 25. Chateau Lynsolence - Vintage - 2000 A small neighbor of Monbousquet (only 5 acres in size), this is a 100% Merlot wine made from 35-year-old vines cropped at 28 hectoliters per hectare. With admirable size, intensity, and power, the dense ruby/purple-colored 2000 offers thick, chewy, black cherry, and currant fruit, medium to full body, low acidity, and layers of glycerin. It should be delicious young, but evolve for 12 years. The vineyard produced 625 cases in 2000. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 6 Into Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $200 - 275 |

Chateau Monbousquet - Vintage - 2000 From an unheralded terroir, this Monbousquet was made from extremely low yields of 28-30 hectoliters per hectare. Aged sur lie and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it exemplifies proprietor Perse's enormous efforts. Black and blue to the rim, this wine represents the essence of this terroir. Its saturated black/purple color is accompanied by extraordinary aromatics of sweet blackberries, chocolate, coffee, incense, new saddle leather, and vanilla. Remarkable intensity, lively acidity, and abundant tannin provide definition and grip. This is the most intense, muscular, and biggest Monbousquet made to date, and that is saying something considering the 1998 and 1999! So be prepared, it is remarkable wine. Chateau Montrose - Vintage - 2000 This estate has frequently hit the bull's eye over recent vintages, and the 2000 Montrose is the finest effort produced since the compelling 1990 and 1989. This gigantically sized, tannic, backward effort boasts a saturated inky purple color followed by a huge nose of acacia flavors, crushed blackberries, creme de cassis, vanilla, hickory smoke, and minerals. Extremely full-bodied, powerful, dense, and multi-layered, this unreal Montrose should last for 30+ years. A blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, this is a special wine that has exceptional purity and length. Chateau Pape-Clement - Vintage - 2000 The profound 2000 (a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) continues to put on weight. An opaque purple color is accompanied by stunning aromas of wood smoke, cocoa, black currant and cherry liqueur, coffee, scorched earth, and new oak. A wine of extraordinary concentration, elegance, and complexity, it is one of the finest Pape Clements of the last three decadesą Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 6 Into Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $300 - 425 |

Chateau Troplong-Mondot - Vintage - 2000 Combining remarkable elegance allied to considerable power and depth, this is the finest wine from Troplong Mondot since the staggeringly great 1990. Its saturated purple color is followed by aromas of ink, creme de cassis, graphite, and toasty oak. Full-bodied and powerful, with excellent balance, this is a wine of extraordinary richness and massiveness yet surreal freshness as well as vibrancy. The finish lasts for over 45 seconds and nearly conceals some hefty tannins. With fabulous definition, richness, and intensity, this is a compelling 2000. Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - Vintage - 2002 A brilliant offering and a candidate for wine of the vintage, this is classic Lafite that reminded me somewhat of the 1976, although the vintage conditions were completely different. This is a medium-weight, quintessentially elegant style of Lafite with notes of lead pencil shavings/graphite along with black currants, plums, and crushed rocks/mineral. Wonderfully pure, dense, with a deep ruby/purple color and loads of fruit, definition, and a long finish, this is a brilliant, elegant Lafite Rothschild that builds incrementally in the mouth and has more power and density than it initially seems. Chateau Leoville-Las Cases - Vintage - 2002 Only 43% of the production made it into the final blend of this remarkable 2002. Produced from a low 17 hectoliters per hectare, it includes 66.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14.5% Merlot, 13.9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. It has the highest alcohol ever achieved in a Leoville Las Cases (13.5%) as well as a lofty pH of 3.85. Nevertheless, the impression is one of a structured wine with considerable density, a ruby/purple color, layers of flavor, and a classic overall personality. The wine exhibits pure black currant, licorice-infused fruit, huge body, a viscous mid-palate, and a long, heady finish. I suspect this wine wonĘt be nearly as charming as the 2003 in its youth, but it hasnĘt yet closed down, and I am amazed at just how rich, intense, and full-bodied it tastes even after bottling. This is certainly one of the half dozen or so candidates for wine of the vintage. Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 2002 Dense purple to the rim, this wine exhibits the classic cassis aroma that is so characteristic of Mouton. Medium to full-bodied, tannic, powerful, and cut somewhat from the 1988 mold, this is a backward, chewy, well-endowed Mouton-Rothschild that will require considerable patience from those who purchase it. A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, the wine needs a good decade of cellaring. Chateau Beaucastel - Vintage - 2001 Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I dont see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied and powerful, it will undoubtedly close down over the next several years, not to re-emerge for 7-8 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/04 6- 1.2cm. 6 Bottles per lot $225 - 300 |

Screaming Eagle - Vintage - 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon The 2003 has been in bottle for over a year and continues to be a beautiful wine, dense ruby/purple in color with wonderful purity of creme de cassis. It is that black currant liqueur purity, richness, and depth that is one of the shining characteristics of this wine. Extraordinarily pure, the wine is full-bodied, opulent, and concentrated, but still young and primary. There is plenty of tannin underlying the wealth of fruit and, if anything, the wine seems to have firmed up since I had it last year. Chateau Petrus - Vintage - 1961 An estate only needs to produce a handful of wines such as the 1961 Petrus to garner an international following. Not surprisingly, the 1961 Petrus was pure perfection. This fully mature wine possesses a port-like richness (reminiscent of the 1947 Petrus and 1947 Cheval Blanc). The color revealed considerable amber and garnet, but the wine is crammed with viscous, thick, over-ripe black-cherry, mocha-tinged fruit flavors. Extremely full-bodied, with huge amounts of glycerin and alcohol, this unctuously-textured, thick wine makes for an awesome mouthful. Imagine a Reese"s Peanut Butter Cup laced with layers of coffee and cherry, and encased in a shell of Valrhona chocolate! Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/96 High Shoulder. Bin Stained Label. 1 Bottle per lot $4200 - 5700

Chateau Pavie - Vintage - 2002 ...the 2002 is one of the top wines of the vintage. Its deep plum/ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of fruitcake, cranberries, cherry liqueur, crushed rocks, and subtle oak. Savory, full-bodied, remarkably concentrated, layered, and forward for a Pavie, it should be accessible in 3-4 years, and will evolve effortlessly for two decades. Chateau L' Angelus - Vintage - 2003 A blend of 58% Cabernet Franc and 42% Merlot, the beautiful 2003 (14% alcohol; 6,500 cases produced) is somewhat tightly knit, but it reveals a perfumed nose of rose petals, blackberries, menthol, and cedar. This broad, sweet 2003's supple attack is followed by a tannic mid-section. The wine does not appear to be as dense or structured as the 2004. Given the high percentage of Cabernet Franc, it is likely to put on considerable weight in the bottle. This beauty is slightly different not only because of the torrid vintage conditions, but also because it incorporates the highest percentage of Cabernet Franc ever utilized at Angelus. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/06 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $1300 - 1800 |

Chateau Leoville-Las Cases - Vintage - 2003 The solidly made 2003 Leoville Las-Cases (13.2% alcohol) is a blend of 70.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17.2% Merlot, and 12.6% Cabernet Franc. In this incredibly hot vintage, the alcohol is slightly lower than achieved in 2002, a cool-climate year. While not a profound example of Las-Cases, the 2003 is muscular, deep, and full-bodied with an impressive ruby/purple color, a tight but juicy bouquet of vanilla, black cherries, crushed rocks, and flowers, a sweet attack, and moderately high tannin. Backward and fresh, displaying impeccable delineation and purity, it can be enjoyed between 2012-2023. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/06 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $1700 - 2300 |

Chateau Margaux - Vintage - 2003 'A wine of extraordinary complexity and intensity, it reveals a deep purple color, a style not unlike the 1990 Margaux (possibly even more concentrated), a velvety texture, and notes of spring flowers interwoven with camphor, melted licorice, creme de cassis, and pain grille. Not a blockbuster, it offers extraordinary intensity as well as a surreal delicacy/lightness. There is riveting freshness to this offering, which tips the scales at a lofty (for this estate) 13.5% alcohol, as well as an alluring sweetness and accessibility. It probably will tighten up over the next few years. Nevertheless, it is a profound Chateau Margaux that brings to mind a hypothetical blend of the 1982 and 1990. Jean Louis Chave - Vintage - 2002 Hermitage One of the candidates for the Rhone Valley's "wine of the vintage" is Chave's 2002 Hermitage. A draconian selection has resulted in a deep ruby/purple-colored offering revealing sweet notes of melted licorice, briery berries, earth, and herbs. Medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant, and intense, this forward-styled Hermitage appears to be better than the 1992, 1993, and 1994, which are all fine wines that are holding up well. The 2002 should be at its peak between 2005-2015. What Chave accomplished in the extremely challenging 2002 vintage is unquestionably noteworthy. Not because of tiny yields and small grapes, but due to ChaveĘs decision to eliminate every grape except the very best, 2002 is a small crop. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/04 3- .5cm. 3 Magnums per lot $500 - 700 |

Domaine De La Mordoree - Vintage - 2004 Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Reine De Bois The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de la Reine des Bois is also a beauty - full-bodied, not as tannic as most young vintages of this cuvee tend to be, with an inky ruby/purple color and a beautiful sweet nose of smoked meats, creme de cassis, raspberries, licorice, graphite, and camphor. Full-bodied, ripe, with moderately sweet tannin, this is a wine that uncharacteristically can be drunk at a relatively early age for Mordoree but should last for 10-15 years. Numanthia - Vintage - 2004 Toro Any aspiring collectors should add a case of this to their stash. The 2004 Numanthia comes from a different terroir with a different clone of Tinta de Toro. The vines for this cuvee range from 70-100 years of age with tiny yields of 1 ton of fruit per acre. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrel followed by 19 months in new French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. The wine is a glass-coating opaque purple with a killer nose of mineral, pencil lead, wild blueberry, and blackberry liqueur that roars from the glass. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, dense, and already beginning to show complexity within its layers of spicy black fruits. There is immense power, well-concealed ripe tannin, and the well-delineated finish lasts for over one minute. This is a sensational effort which in a perfect world should be cellared for a decade and enjoyed over the following 25+ years. However, the elderly among us should not feel guilty about opening a bottle now. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/07 3 Into Neck. 3 Magnums per lot $375 - 500 |

Ripe, medium to full-bodied, layered, supple-textured, round, and rich, it should drink well for 5-6 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/06 Original Carton. 12 Bottles per lot $300 - 425 |

Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 1961 ...At its best the wine is a great Mouton. Huge, cedary, cassis, lead pencil, menthol-like aromas soared from the glass. The black/purple color revealed no signs of lightening or amber at the edge. Full-bodied, rich, and super-intense, this was an a profound bottle of 1961 Mouton that would have stood up against the compelling 1959. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/94 High Shoulder. Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron - Vintage - 1998 A definitive Pauillac, the dense purple-colored 1998 Pichon-Baron offers up a sweet bouquet of licorice, smoke, asphalt, blackberries, and creme de cassis. In the mouth, the wine is elegant rather than full-blown, with medium body, sweet fruit, nice texture on the attack and mid-palate, and moderate tannin in the long finish. No, this is not as profound as the 1996, 1990 or 1989, but it is an outstanding effort. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/01 6 Into Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $250 - 350 |

Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 1983 Evolving in a positive fashion, 1983 is turning out to be a fine vintage for Mouton. Although not a big wine, this medium-weight Mouton displays an attractive nose of blackcurrants, black-cherries, olives, and minerals. Medium-bodied, with sweet but noticeable tannin in the finish, as well as beautiful elegance and complexity, this wine is close to reaching its plateau of maturity. I have always thought it resembled this property's 1966. It should last for another 20 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 8/93

Opus One - Vintage - 1988 ...the 1988 is certainly one of the finest red wines I have tasted from this uninspiring vintage. Impressively dark ruby-colored, it reveals an attractive nose of currants and smoky new oak. In the mouth, the wine is medium-bodied, with excellent concentration, a velvety texture, soft tannins, low acidity, and a smooth, attractive finish. Although it is hard to resist now, it should age gracefully for 7-8 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/92 Original Wooden Case. 6 Bottles per lot $650 - 900 |

Dalla Valle - Vintage - 1991 Maya Proprietary Red Wine The 1991 Maya (made from equal proportions of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon) has developed incredibly since I tasted it nearly a year ago and rated it 94. The wine is black/purple-colored and offers up a compelling bouquet of flowers, minerals, black fruits, vanilla, and spices. There is huge extraction of fruit, full body, outstanding purity and balance, moderate tannin, and a tremendous layered feel on the palate. All of this intensity and richness is brilliantly pulled off without any sense of heaviness. I can understand wanting to drink this wine immediately as it is an extraordinarily impressive young wine, but it should be given another 4-6 years of cellaring; it is a candidate for 25 years of aging. It is also a strong candidate for a three-digit score in a few years. This is a winemaking tour de force! Opus One - Vintage - 1991 Opus One's 1991 is a gorgeously rich, opaque ruby/purple-colored wine with a knock-out nose of smoke, cassis, vanilla, and a whiff of herbs and licorice. Full-bodied, with surprisingly supple, concentrated, chocolatey, cassis, and blackcurrant flavors that ooze across the palate, this voluptuously-textured example of Opus One is atypical in a vintage that produced so many backward wines. There is no question the wine possesses plenty of tannin, but it is admirably concealed by the copious quantities of concentrated fruit. This Opus can be drunk now as well as over the next 15+ years. Quilceda Creek - Vintage - 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon Washington state's premier Cabernet Sauvignon producer has fashioned a full-bodied, highly extracted, ferociously tannic, backward Cabernet that requires 3-5 years of cellaring. This winery's hallmark is great purity allied with considerable body and structure, without sacrificing any of the superb cassis fruit, all of which is gently kissed by high quality oak. It is a shame Quilceda Creek's wines are rarely seen outside of Washington, but who can blame that state's chauvinistic wine enthusiasts for keeping these heroic wines to themselves? This is a 20-year Cabernet Sauvignon. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/95 Original Carton. 12 Bottles per lot $500 - 700 |

Chateau Margaux - Vintage - 1986 The 1986 Margaux continues to be the most powerful, tannic, and muscular Margaux made in decades. One wonders if the 1928 or 1945 had as much power and depth as the 1986? The black/ruby/purple color reveals no sign of age. The reluctant nose offers up aromas of smoky, toasty new oak and blackcurrants, as well as a few flowers. The wine is mammoth, with extraordinary extract, superb balance, and a frightfully tannic finish. A Margaux of immense stature, it is made in a masculine, full-bodied style that is in complete contrast to the 1990. It should prove nearly immortal in terms of aging potential, but will it have the awesome potential I first predicted? Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - Vintage - 1996 ...the 1996 Lafite-Rothschild is unquestionably this renowned estate's greatest wine...This massive wine may be the biggest, largest-scaled Lafite I have ever tasted. It will require many years to come around, so I suspect all of us past the age of fifty might want to give serious consideration as to whether we should be laying away multiple cases of this wine. It is also the first Lafite-Rothschild to be put into a new engraved bottle (designed to prevent fraudulent imitations). The wine exhibits a thick-looking, ruby/purple color, and a knock-out nose of lead pencil, minerals, flowers, and black currant scents. Extremely powerful and full-bodied, with remarkable complexity for such a young wine, this huge Lafite is oozing with extract and richness. Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - Vintage - 1997 It boasts an opaque dense purple color in addition to a gorgeously sweet, expansive perfume of cedar wood, black currants, lead pencil, and minerals. What follows is a fat mid-palate, medium body, explosive fruit and richness, soft tannin, and a velvety texture. It is a beautiful, compelling Lafite-Rothschild that can be drunk young, yet promises to evolve for 15+ years. Although one of the most forward Lafites ever tasted, it is all the more captivating because of this characteristic. Don't miss it! Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - Vintage - 1998 In a less than perfect Medoc vintage, it has been spectacular since birth, putting on more weight and flesh over the last year. This opaque purple-colored 1998 is close to perfection. The spectacular nose of lead pencil, smoky, mineral, and black currant fruit soars majestically from the glass. The wine is elegant yet profoundly rich, revealing the essence of Lafite's character. The tannin is sweet, and the wine is spectacularly layered yet never heavy. The finish is sweet, super-rich, yet impeccably balanced and long (50+ seconds). Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/01 6 Into Neck. 6 Bottles per lot $1200 - 1600 |

Chateau Brane-Cantenac - Vintage - 2000 Undeniably the finest Brane-Cantenac in 40-50 years, the deep ruby/purple-colored 2000's beautiful aromatics of smoke, black currants, tobacco, earth, and flowers jump from the glass. In the mouth, it is pure, elegant, medium-bodied, with savory tannin and adequate acidity, and a measured yet authoritatively flavored mid-palate and finish. Chateau Cheval Blanc - Vintage - 2000 This closed, backward blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc boasts a saturated purple color along with a reticent but striking bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, truffles, and mocha. In spite of its tightness, aeration reveals scents of licorice, menthol, and saddle leather. Opulent and full-bodied, with low acidity, sweet tannin, and a 60-second finish, it is unquestionably as profound as the 1990 and 1982. I still believe the 2000 has the potential to be the most compelling Cheval Blanc since the mythical 1947 and 1949, but patience is required. It should merit a three digit score in 7-10 years, but it is closed at present. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 Original Wooden Case. 6 Bottles per lot $3500 - 5000 |

Chateau La Clusiere - Vintage - 2000 From this hillside 2.6-acre vineyard planted with 100% Merlot a veritable legend has emerged. The 2000 is undoubtedly the finest La Clusiere ever produced. A magnificent effort possessing off-the-chart extract levels as well as a remarkably intense palate impression, it tastes like the undistilled essence of a particular vineyard and wine type. The color is opaque blue/purple. The bouquet reveals dense blackberry, plum, and cassis aromas infused with minerals, licorice, espresso, and graphite. Full-bodied, massively-endowed, concentrated, and incredibly well-delineated, with high but velvety tannin, this is a magnificent wine. It was bottled, as are all the Perse wines, with neither fining nor filtration. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $5100 - 6900 |

Chateau Cos D'Estournel - Vintage - 2000 This wine puts on weight and grows in stature every time I go back to it. In fact, from the bottle it was better than ever. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2000 Cos d'Estournel suffers only in comparison with its successor, the 2001. Deep bluish purple in color with a reticent but emerging bouquet of cedar, licorice, blueberry, cassis, vanilla, and lead pencil shavings, this medium-bodied, slightly sinewy Cos d'Estournel has relatively high tannin, an excellent mid-palate, and a persistent finish. Purity and classicism are hallmarks of this top-flight wine. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $1100 - 1400 |

Chateau Gruaud-Larose - Vintage - 2000 This saturated bluish-black/purple-colored wine seems at first closed and broodingly backward. In the mouth, it is dense, textured, full-bodied, pure, yet, at the same time, closed. This wine is large-sized, with high tannin but equally high extract and richness. The wine will require patience, and seems to me to be the best effort Gruaud Larose has put forth since their sumptuous 1990. Chateau Leoville-Barton - Vintage - 2000 Absolutely spectacular from bottle, but frightfully closed and backward, with massive power and structure, the saturated purple-colored 2000 Leoville Barton is one of the greatest wines ever made at this estate. The wine has smoky, earthy notes intermixed with graphite, camphor, damp earth, jammy cassis, cedar, and a hint of mushroom. Enormous, even monstrous in the mouth, with tremendous extraction, broodingly backward, dense flavors, and copious tannins, this should prove to be one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage and one of the most compelling Leoville Bartons ever made. Chateau Leoville-Las Cases - Vintage - 2000 Clos Du Marquis One of the great sleepers of the vintage and probably the best Clos de Marquis I have ever tasted, this wine could easily compete with many of the vintage's classified growths. Dense, opaque purple-colored, with creme de cassis, vanilla, and cherry notes, medium to full body, an unctuous texture, low acidity, and a more evolved style than its bigger sibling, Leoville Las Cases, this dense, chewy, remarkably concentrated and stylish wine should be at its best between 2005 and 2018. Chateau Margaux - Vintage - 2000 ...the 2000 has turned out to be a colossal example of Chateau Margaux that is tasting even better from bottle than it was from cask. Only 40% of the crop made it into this 2000 Margaux, a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. Stylistically, it is somewhat of a hybrid between the succulent, opulent, fleshy 1990, and the more delineated, structured, cooler climate-tasting 1996. The 2000 possesses a saturated ruby/purple color to the rim as well as an extraordinarily promising nose of creme de cassis intermixed with white flowers, licorice, and hints of espresso and toasty oak. There is great intensity, compelling purity, a multi-layered, full-bodied palate, and a finish that goes on for nearly 70+ seconds. Bottled naturally, with no filtration, it is a monumental example of the elegance and power that symbolize this extraordinary vineyard. A tour de force in winemaking, many of my colleagues predicted, far earlier than me, that it would be the wine of the vintage. It is certainly one of the wines of the vintage, but there is plenty of competition, even at this lofty level of quality. Absolutely awesome! Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 2000 The 2000 Mouton Rothschild is at its best with about 24-48 hours of decanting. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, the wine offers a saturated ruby/purple color in addition to reticent but promising aromas of toast, coffee, licorice, creme de cassis, and roasted nuts. Dense, chewy, and backward, with tremendous purity and density in addition to obvious toasty oak, it is full-bodied, powerful, tannic, and backward. Twenty-four to 48 hours of aeration only hints at its ultimate potential. This blockbuster will be exceptionally long-lived. Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron - Vintage - 2000 A spectacular effort, this is a profound Pichon Baron and clearly my favorite vintage of this wine since the 1989 and 1990. The wine is full-bodied, tremendously concentrated, with sweet tannin and a seamless finish that goes on for close to one minute. Chateau Rol Valentin - Vintage - 2000 This is Eric Prissette's most impressive vintage to date. The wine has developed beautifully in cask, and out of bottle is a gorgeously seductive, full-bodied, heady, perfumed style of wine, with a dense purple color and a sweet nose of blackberries, cassis, licorice, coffee, and toast. Chateau L' Angelus - Vintage - 2001 A brilliant performance by Hubert de Bouard, the 2001 Angelus (6,250 cases) is a more restrained and delineated version of the 2000. It has shed much of its tannin, and seems far more evolved and open-knit than I thought prior to bottling. Its deep purple color is followed by a rich nose of creosote, charcoal, blackberries, plums, cassis, and espresso roast. Elegant, medium-bodied, and rich, with a measured ripeness and moderate structure in the pure, nicely proportioned finish, it is less massive than either the 2000 or 2003, yet is also beautifully put together. Chateau Calon-Segur - Vintage - 2001 I suspect this 2001 will shut down (as most young Calon-Segurs do), although it appears more forward and evolved than the huge, backward, but totally dormant 2000. The plum/ruby-colored 2001 reveals aromas of damp earth, cranberries, cherries, herbs, and forest floor. While lighter than its older sibling, it is medium-bodied, elegant, and should emerge from its post-bottling sleep in 4-5 years, and drink well for 14-15. Chateau Haut-Brion - Vintage - 2001 Haut-Brion's 2001, which was bottled late (the end of September, 2003), possesses an unmistakable nobility as well as a burgeoning complexity. Plum/purple to the rim, this blend of 52% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 12% Cabernet Franc is playing it close to the vest, having closed down considerably after bottling. Nevertheless, it reveals pure notes of sweet and sour cherries, black currants, licorice, smoke, and crushed stones. Chateau Latour - Vintage - 2001 A brilliant offering, which should be drinkable much earlier than the blockbuster 2000, the 2001 Latour boasts an inky/ruby/purple color to the rim as well as a glorious bouquet of black currants, crushed stones, vanilla, and hints of truffles and oak. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance primarily Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it reveals a sweetness on the palate that is atypical for such a young Latour. The beautiful integration of tannin, acidity, and wood is stunning. The wine flows across the palate with fabulous texture, purity, and presence. This luscious, full-bodied Latour was surprisingly open-knit on the three occasions I tasted it from bottle. However, do not mistake its aging ability as this 2001, despite its precociousness, will last 20-25 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/04 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $1500 - 2000 |

Chateau Leoville-Barton - Vintage - 2001 Consistent from bottle (I tasted it three times), this is an outstanding offering, although not quite at the prodigious level of the 2000. Civilized and approachable for a young Leoville-Barton, it exhibits a saturated plum/purple color along with classic Bordelais aromas of damp earth, creme de cassis, smoke, vanillin, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied and rich, with high but well-integrated tannin, and a long, 40+ second finish, it should turn out to be a brilliant effort, and one of the stars of the Medoc. However, patience is essential. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/04 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $350 - 450 |

Chateau Leoville-Poyferre - Vintage - 2001 Sweet notions of plums, black currants, caramel, and spicy oak are provocative and alluring. Subtle but substantial, layered, and textured, with medium body as well as sexy, up-front flavors, low acidity, and ripe tannin, this beauty is among the most evolved and flamboyant of the appellation. Nevertheless, it should age well. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/04 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $350 - 600 |

Chateau Margaux - Vintage - 2001 Performing well from bottle, Chateau MargauxĘs 2001, which is somewhat reminiscent of both the 1985 and 1999, is an elegant, seamlessly constructed effort with a deep ruby/purple color, and a beautiful nose of flowers, creme de cassis, blackberries, and cedar. A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc, this forward, opulent beauty can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years. This is one of the most elegant wines of the vintage. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/04 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $1500 - 2000 |

Chateau Montrose - Vintage - 2001 Sweet notes of earth, compost, and thick, juicy black currant as well as cherry characteristics jump from the glass of this dense purple-colored 2001. Medium-bodied and rich, with moderately high tannin as well as surprising power and density, it is the most backward St.-Estephe of the vintage. Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 2001 Very smoky, with berry, coffee and tobacco aromas. Full-bodied, with polished velvety tannins, plenty of fruit and a cedary aftertaste. Tight and compacted. This is better than the 2000 Mouton. It's a baby 1986 Mouton. Solid and very, very fine. Persists for a long time on the palate. Chateau Pape-Clement - Vintage - 2001 A brilliant dense purple color is accompanied by an extraordinary perfume of camphor, graphite, plums, cassis, and barbecue spices. A prodigious, multilayered, medium-bodied effort with exceptional concentration, a fabulous texture, and a 50-second finish, this brilliant achievement is one of the vintage's monumental wines. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020+. P.S. Yields were a mere 28 hectoliters per hectare, which no doubt explains the wine's stunning concentration. Chateau Pavie - Vintage - 2001 One of the candidates for wine of the vintage ... again, the 2001 Pavie, from a magnificent south-facing vineyard planted primarily on limestone soil, is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. After a six week maceration, it spent nearly 24 months in new oak prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Some Bordeaux brokers think it might be even better than the 2000 Pavie, but I do not agree. The inky/ruby/purple-colored 2001 exhibits a tight but promising nose of crushed stones, a liqueur of blackberries, cherries, and black currants, and subtle smoke and licorice in the background. Powerful, with impressive elegance, fine harmony among its elements, a multi-layered texture, it has a finish that lasts for 50+ seconds. There is considerable tannin, but it is well-integrated. Give it 3-4 years, and drink it over the next two decades. A profound effort for the vintage, it is an example of a perfectionist proprietor pushing the envelope of quality. Chateau Peby Faugeres - Vintage - 2001 Produced from a south-sloping parcel considered to be the finest sub-plot of the Faugeres vineyard, this luxury cuvee has been fabulous since its debut vintage in 1998. The dense purple-colored, medium to full-bodied 2001 Peby Faugeres boasts a flamboyant perfume of espresso roast, melted chocolate, camphor, blackberries, creme de cassis liqueur, and a hint of sweet toasty oak. This opulent, full-bodied, concentrated offering possesses ripe, well-integrated tannin. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/04 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $750 - 900 |

Chateau Comtesse De Lalande Pichon-Longueville - Vintage - 2001 A distinctive bouquet of violets, soy, pepper, blackberries, cassis, and tree bark gives this 2001 a singular style. This dense ruby/purple-colored blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and a whopping 14% Petit Verdot exhibits plenty of structure, wonderful sweetness, a closed style, but a rich, textured, persistent character. The unusually large percentage of Petit Verdot gives the wine more structure and less initial charm. This beauty needs some time in the cellar. Chateau Pontet-Canet - Vintage - 2001 ...Revealing classic cassis aromas, medium to full body, a firm structure with plenty of finesse, a closed personality, and dominant as well as intrusive tannin, it should age well for 12-20 years, but patience will be required. Certainly the concentration appears up to the level of the tannin. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/04 Original Wooden Case. 12 Bottles per lot $200 - 275 |

Chateau Haut-Brion - Vintage - 1989 ...1989 was an extraordinary success for Jean Delmas, the administrator of Haut-Brion and La Mission-Haut-Brion. The prodigious 1989 Haut-Brion is one of the greatest first-growths I have ever tasted. It has always reminded me of what the 1959 must have tasted like in its youth, but it is even richer and more compelling aromatically. The wine exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color, as well as a sweet nose of jammy fruit, tobacco, spicy oak, minerals, and smoke. Fabulously concentrated, with huge levels of fruit, extract, and glycerin, this wine is nearly viscous because of its thickness and richness. Low acidity gives the wine even more appeal and adds to its precociousness. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/97 3- .8cm. 1 Slightly Nicked Label. 3 Bottles per lot $1800 - 2300 |

Chateau Latour - Vintage - 1990 There is no doubting the 1990 Latour is a potential candidate for the wine of the vintage. Remarkably youthful, with a deep purple color, and full-bodied, powerful, massive richness, everything is held together by high levels of tannin. Fortunately, the tannin is sweet and ripe, making evaluation easy. The finish, which lasts for 35-40 seconds, reveals layers of flavor as well as impressive purity. This backward 1990 requires another 7-10 of cellaring. It is a wine for drinking between 2005-2035. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/97 1 Into Neck. 2 Base Neck. 3 Bottles per lot $1800 - 2300 |

Rotllan Torra - Vintage - 2001 Tirant Priorat A prodigious effort, the 2001 Tirant is a 9,000-bottle cuvee made from 30% Grenache (90-100 years old), 25% Carignan (90-100 years old), 25% young vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, and 10% Merlot. Fermented in large oak foudres and aged 12 months in new French oak, it will be bottled with neither fining nor filtration. Inky/purple-colored to the rim, it boasts a spectacular bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, and the regionĘs classic crushed stone minerality. This full-throttle yet remarkably elegant 2001 possesses tremendous intensity and texture as well as layers of flavor, but comes across as not over the top, overripe, or overly heavy. The 60-second finish reveals more noticeable tannin than the other cuvees. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 10-15. The 2001 Tirant is indeed a special wine. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/04 Original Wooden Case. 6 Bottles per lot $325 - 450 |
