3 Calon-Segur - Vintage - 1945
The 1945 Calon-Segur is a powerful, dense, dark garnet-colored wine with plenty of earth, mineral, and black fruits in its nose. Although there is still tannin present, this is a formidably concentrated, thick, hugely extracted, amazingly youthful wine. It can be drunk now or cellared for another 25-30 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/95

Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - Vintage - 1945
Magnificent, complex aromas of cedar, spice and currant swirl elegantly through the lean frame. Exudes class and silky finesse as it builds toward the finish. A touch of lime intrudes on aftertaste, and it ends up being sharp after time in the glass. Wine Spectator, 11/95
Mid Shoulder. Slightly Bin Stained Label.
1 Bottle per lot $1000 - 1400

65423 $1,000.00 $1,170.00
5 Chateau Margaux - Vintage - 1945
Still has firm tannins, but you can feel the delicacy and grace as it opens up and shows cedar, cigar box and chocolate-scented berry flavors. The tannins are scarcely more obtrusive here than with the other first growths. Wine Spectator, 11/95
1 Very Top Shoulder. 1 Top Shoulder. 2 Bin Stained Labels. 1 Torn, Tattered And Partially Missing Label. 1 Nicked Capsule.

6 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 1953
I remember a friend of mine decanting a magnum of the 1953 and sticking it under my nose to share with me the incredible bouquet. In addition to the exotic aromas of soy sauce, new saddle leather, cassis, herbs, and spices, the 1953 offers a deep ruby color with some amber at the edge. Sweet and fat, with voluptuously-textured fruit, this low acid wine has no noticeable tannin. While it may be living dangerously, it is a decadent treat if it is drunk immediately after decanting. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/94
5.2cm. Bin Stained Label. Slight Signs Of Seepage.
1 Magnum per lot $2300 - 3100

9435 $3,300.00 $3,861.00
7 Chateau Latour - Vintage - 1955
...This bottle exhibited an impressively saturated, dark ruby/purple color with only slight lightening at the edge. The big, rich nose of truffles, black fruits, minerals, and spices displayed full maturity, with no signs of deterioration. The wine remains vibrant, rich, and full-bodied, with considerable tannin, and superb concentration and richness. Made in a powerful, rich, concentrated style, it has 20 more years of aging potential. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/93
High Shoulder. Bin Stained Label.
1 Bottle per lot $500 - 700

43273 $650.00 $760.50
8 Chateau Haut-Brion - Vintage - 1961
The 1961 Haut-Brion was pure perfection, with gloriously intense aromas of tobacco, cedar, minerals, and sweet red and black fruits complemented by smoky wood. This has always been a prodigious effort (it was the debut vintage for Jean Delmas). Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/96
3.3cm. Very Bin Stained Label.

21207 $1,100.00 $1,287.00

Chateau Margaux - Vintage - 1961
An intense bouquet filled with the scents of ripe plums, flowers, toasted walnuts, and oak is divine. This expansive wine is silky, rich, very generously flavored, long, and full bodied on the palate. It is fully mature, but there is little chance of this wine falling apart for at least another decade. Robert Parker, Bordeaux, 3rd Edition, 98
High Shoulder. Bin Stained Label. Slight Signs Of Seepage.
1 Bottle per lot $600 - 800

65423 $550.00 $643.50
10 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 1961
...At its best the wine is a great Mouton. Huge, cedary, cassis, lead pencil, menthol-like aromas soared from the glass. The black/purple color revealed no signs of lightening or amber at the edge. Full-bodied, rich, and super-intense, this was an a profound bottle of 1961 Mouton that would have stood up against the compelling 1959. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/94
Top Shoulder. Slightly Bin Stained Label.
1 Bottle per lot $1000 - 1400

35860 $1,600.00 $1,872.00

14 Chateau Latour - Vintage - 1966
The 1966 Latour is the wine of the vintage! Very dark ruby colored with an amber edge, the wine boasts a top-notch bouquet of leather, spices, tobacco, and ripe fruit. Quite concentrated, rich and powerful, it has shed much of its ferocious tannin and is easily the best wine produced by Latour in the sixties, omitting of course, the monumental 1961. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/94

17 Chateau Latour - Vintage - 1970
One of the top two or three wines of the vintage (Petrus and Trotanoy are noteworthy rivals), this young, magnificent Latour is still 5-10 years away from full maturity. The opaque garnet color is followed by a huge, emerging nose of black fruits, truffles, walnuts, and subtle tobacco/Graves-like scents. Full-bodied, fabulously concentrated and intense, with a sweet inner-core of fruit (a rarity in most 1970 Medocs), and high but well-integrated tannin, this enormously endowed, massive Latour should hits its prime by the end of the century and last for 2-3 decades thereafter. This will be the longest-lived and potentially most classic wine of the vintage. Cream always comes to the top. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/96

18 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 1970
Deep garnet; fragrant tar and black truffle nose; extremely concentrated; big and mouth-filling, with very dense cassis flavor; enormous, generous fruit; a voluptuous claret. Wine Spectator, 5/93

20 Chateau Lafleur - Vintage - 1975
True to form in this tasting, the 1975 Lafleur is even younger, denser, more powerful, and, yes, more concentrated than the 1975 Petrus. Lafleur possesses a mind-boggling inner-core of highly-extracted fruit, something that was not achieved in such great Lafleurs as 1982, 1985, 1988, 1989, and 1990. Still extremely tannic, with an opaque purple/black/garnet color, the wine exhibits a huge nose of jammy black fruits, earth, minerals, and spice. Massively proportioned, with a boat-load of tannin to shed, this is a wine for the 21st century. This monumental wine may behave like some of the great 1928s. If you own large stocks of the 1975 Lafleur, open a bottle and decant it for about 4-6 hours before drinking. However, if you only have a few bottles in your cellar, I recommend holding them until at least the turn of the century. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/96
Original Wooden Case. 5 Into Neck. 6 Base Neck. 1 Very Top Shoulder. 2 Very Slightly Bin stained Labels. 1 Slightly Bin Stained Label. 2 Nicked Capsules.

9435 $26,000.00 $30,420.00
21 Chateau Trotanoy - Vintage - 1975
The exquisite 1975 Trotanoy gets my nod as one of the three finest wines produced at this estate in the last 25 years (the others being 1970 and 1982). This wine has been drinking splendidly for several years, exhibiting fabulous mocha/toffee/jammy black-cherry aromas in a complex, sweet, fragrant bouquet. Full-bodied, splendidly concentrated, velvety-textured, with a firm finish, this is a weighty, rich, complex, great vintage for Trotanoy. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. Like so many top Pomerols in the 1975 vintage, there is a sweetness and jamminess to this wine's fruit that is not found in most 1975 Medocs. This is a glorious Trotanoy! Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/96

22 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases - Vintage - 1978
The 1978 Las Cases has taken on a garnet hue with some dark ruby tints. The nose is more complex and penetrating than the flavors. The wine offers classic, mineral, lead pencil, smoky, earthy scents, with plenty of ripe fruit, and none of the vegetal herbaceousness that many 1978s have begun to exhibit. The attack offers good ripeness, medium to full body, higher acidity than many more recent vintages, and considerable tannin in the hard finish. Although this wine possesses outstanding complexity, the high tannin level may never fully melt away. While it will last another 15-20 years, the 1978 is at its apogee and will slowly dry out over the next two decades. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/95

23 Chateau Comtesse De Lalande Pichon-Longueville - Vintage - 1978
An excellent 1978 (one of the top wines of the vintage), Pichon-Lalande's offering displays an aromatic profile consisting of roasted herbs, chocolate, cedar, tobacco, and ripe curranty fruit. Medium-bodied, with low acidity, some tannin, and a round, attractive personality, this wine has reached its plateau of maturity, where it should remain for another decade. Robert Parker, Bordeaux, 3rd Edition, 98

24 Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou - Vintage - 1981
One of the Medoc's more successful wines, the 1981 has reached full maturity. It exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, and a moderately attractive nose of minerals and jammy cranberry fruit intermixed with black currants. In the mouth, this wine has lost its baby fat, revealing medium body, and an elegant, measured personality. Pure, with well-integrated tannin, this is a stylish, graceful Ducru-Beaucaillou. ... The 1981 Leoville-Las Cases appears close to full maturity, with an excellent deep ruby color, a spicy, cedary, tobacco and currant-scented nose, and good depth and ripeness. A classic, elegantly wrought wine... Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/95

29 Chateau Comtesse De Lalande Pichon-Longueville - Vintage - 1981
The 1981 is a very successful wine, with a more compact aromatic and flavor profile than the 1982. In that sense it is more classic than the flamboyant 1982. Unlike many 1981s, Pichon Lalande achieved wonderful ripeness, and the result is a medium-bodied, richly fruity, fragrant wine without the greenness and astringent tannins that so many 1981s possess. The finish is long and supple. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/92

30 Chateau Cos DÆEstournel - Vintage - 1982
This estate tends to make a more elegant style of Bordeaux, but the 1982 is atypically thick, super-concentrated, rich, and powerful. Although approachable and even delicious if decanted an hour or more before serving, the wine reveals no signs of age in its opaque dark ruby/purple color. The tannin is more aggressive, but the wine still reveals that fabulous inner-core of sweet, jammy, blackcurrant and black-cherry fruit. There is considerable glycerin and body in this still youthful but immensely promising example of Cos d'Estournel. It has at least 20 years of life remaining . Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/93

Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou - Vintage - 1982
...It is unquestionably the finest Ducru-Beaucaillou following the 1961. I do not think the estate has produced any wine since that can be said to be as complete and concentrated as the 1982. Although the 1982 is beginning to reveal some lightening at the edge, it still exhibits an impressively saturated ruby/purple color. The wine offers a classic St.-Julien/Pauillac aromatic profile - intense cedar, some blackcurrants, a touch of oak, and good spice. Rich and more full-bodied than normal, this chewy, concentrated, moderately tannic Ducru can be drunk with considerable pleasure, but ideally it should be cellared for another 3-4 years. It should last through the first two decades of the next century. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/95

2686 $1,800.00 $2,106.00
32 Chateau La Lagune - Vintage - 1982
A beautifully made wine, the 1982 is my favorite La Lagune of the last 20 years... It can be drunk, given its sweet fragrance of toasty oak and ripe black-cherries and currants. However, it is exhibiting more tannin and structure than I would have imagined. It is a powerful, full-bodied La Lagune with super concentration and a thick, juicy personality. There are no signs of color degradation. The wine has some tannin to shed, so another 1-2 years of cellaring would be beneficial, particularly where the wine has been stored under ideal conditions. It is a classic 1982 that appears to be a synthesis in style between a right bank Pomerol and a more austere Medoc. Complex and rich, as well as more structured than I initially believed, this wine should achieve full maturity by the end of the decade, and last through the first two decades of the next century. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/95

33 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases - Vintage - 1982
this youthful yet profoundly complex wine gets my nod as the finest Leoville-Las-Cases ever made. It reveals massive proportions yet extraordinary purity, elegance, and balance. This dense ruby/purple-colored 1982 still looks and tastes as if it were 5-8 years old. The nose offers up blazingly well-delineated, pure aromas of creme de cassis, cherry jam, minerals, and toasty new oak. This unctuously-textured, gorgeously rich, pure, super-concentrated, low acid effort concludes with a 45+ second finish. There is still tannin to shed in this unbelievably fresh, lively, full-bodied, vibrant wine. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/00

35 Chateau Les Ormes-De-Pez - Vintage - 1982
Although this soft, fleshy, ripe-flavored wine has been ready to drink for 5-6 years, it exhibits no sign of color degradation or fruit loss. Round, supple, and generous, with plenty of lush, thick, earthy, blackcurrant fruit intertwined with herbaceous scents, this chunky, husky wine should continue to drink well for another 5-6 years. 36 Chateau Comtesse De Lalande Pichon-Longueville - Vintage - 1982
This has been the most sumptuous, delicious, and profound 1982 to drink over the last 5-6 years. It has never gone through any kind of dormant stage, and it continues to be the odds on favorite to emerge first in any blind tasting of the top 1982s. It reveals a classic Pauillac aromatic profile of sweet blackcurrant fruit intermingled with scents of herbs, cedar, and toast. However, on the palate it performs more like a great Pomerol. Given its unctuous texture, and lavish quantities of fruit, glycerin, and alcohol, this is a thick, supple, velvety-textured, gloriously decadent and hedonistic Pichon-Lalande that should continue to drink well for another 10-12 years. If readers need just one wine with which to impress someone, close a deal, or just experience the pleasures of wine, make it the 1982 Pichon-Lalande. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/95

The 1986 is a highly extracted wine, with a black/ruby color and plenty of toasty, smoky notes in its bouquet that suggest ripe plums and licorice. 41 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases - Vintage - 1986
The 1986 Leoville-Las Cases, which Delon continues to believe is his finest vintage in the eighties (even eclipsing the 1982), still exhibits a black/purple color with no signs of age. The nose offers up aromas of exceptionally ripe cassis fruit intertwined with scents of vanillin, minerals, and spices. The wine is full-bodied, exceptionally well-delineated, and phenomenally concentrated. Still unevolved and youthful, this is one of the most profound Leoville-Las-Cases... Chateau Montrose - Vintage - 1986
The 1986 is a big, brawny Montrose, with gobs of fruit, a boatload of tannin, and enough muscle and depth to remind the league of classic Montrose fans of such great vintages such as 1970, 1964, 1959, and 1953. This deep, full-bodied, chewy wine should last for at least thirty years, but enthusiasts must defer their gratification for another 8 or 9 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 8/93

Chateau Comtesse De Lalande Pichon-Longueville - Vintage - 1986
The 1986 is the most tannic, as well as the largest-framed Pichon-Lalande in over three decades. Whether it will ultimately eclipse the 1982 is doubtful, but it will be longer-lived. Dark ruby/purple, with a tight yet profound bouquet of cedar, blackcurrants, spicy oak, and minerals, this full-bodied, deeply concentrated, exceptionally well-balanced wine is, atypically, too brawny and big to drink young. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/94

La Tache
An outstanding La Tache showing lovely mineral, brown sugar and wet earth intensity, it"s packed with terroir. Balanced and smooth, with a creamy midpalate despite the tannic backbone. It walks a tightrope between seemingly contradictory poles, but it works. Long finish. Wine Spectator, 9/99

La Tache
A healthy, medium to dark garnet color with considerable rust and brown at the edge is typical of a 26-year old, high class red Burgundy. A pungent, smoked duck, Asian spice, sweet, red and black fruit, caramel-like bouquet explodes from the glass. If there is ever a wine that can be said to reek of terroir, it is this 1969. From one of the more structured vintages in the last 25 years..., this fully mature, medium to full-bodied La Tache still retains some tannin. It is beautifully sweet, expansive, and rich, with complex aromatics... It is a terrific La Tache that proves that in some instances, great red Burgundy can last for 25+ years. Giacomo Conterno - Vintage - 1971
Barolo Monfortino Riserva
Dark saturated ruby. The massive and decadent 1971 presents an evolved, balsamic nose of leather, cocoa, stewed fruits, and spices. This strapping, chewy Barolo is dense and packed on the palate, offering plenty of dark backward fruit with unbelievable persistence. Comes across as incredibly youthful and in need of additional cellaring to truly hit its peak, although it is immensely enjoyable today. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 5/05

Proprietary Red Wine
It is one of the great wines of the vintage in a year when a handful of California producers made profound Cabernets (i.e., Robert Mondavi Reserve, Dunn Howell Mountain, and Chateau Montelena). The wine is beginning to shut down, but it still displays a rich ruby color and an intensely spicy, fragrant nose of toasty vanillin oak, cassis, and cedar. In the mouth, this medium to full-bodied wine displays considerable tannins, fine integrated acidity, and an opulent, rich, spicy finish. I would suggest cellaring it for another 3-4 years; it should easily keep through the first decade of the next century. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/93

Brunello Di Montalcino
The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino is PacentiÆs best to date, quite dark in its ruby-garnet tonality and with ample sensations of cloves, vanilla, and sandalwood, though better integrated with the plum and raspberry fruit than in the past. The intense and powerful palate, concentrated, solid, and dense, is sweet and richly fruity and the depth and energy of the flavors indicate a significant life span ahead, a good fifteen years. Aged 18 months in primarily French oak, the 2004 Shiraz G.A.M. is an exceptional example of a precise yet full-flavored, concentrated Shiraz. Insignia Proprietary Red Wine
The prodigious 1997 Insignia (83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 3% Petit-Verdot) lives up to its pre-bottling promise. Tasted on three separate occasions, every bottle has hit the bull's eye. The color is a saturated thick-looking blue/purple. The nose offers up explosive aromas of jammy black fruits, licorice, Asian spices, vanillin, and cedar. Full-bodied as well as exceptionally pure and impressively endowed, this blockbuster yet surprisingly elegant wine cuts a brilliant swath across the palate. A seamless effort with beautifully integrated acidity, sweet tannin, and alcohol, it is still an infant, but can be drunk with considerable pleasure. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/00

The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa looks to be one of the finest wines made by the winemaking team of proprietor Justin Meyer and winemaker/viticulturist Daniel Baron. The 1997 Napa is an impressive effort. A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, this wine has a flamboyant nose of fruitcake, licorice, Asian spice, black currants, and toasty wood. Deep, opulent, viscous, intense, chewy, and thick, it is a classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon made in an all-American oak lovers' style. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/00

Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard
Year in and year out, one of the most concentrated and spectacular Zinfandels produced in California emerges from the old vines St. Helena's Hayne Vineyard. The 1998 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard (16.4% alcohol) may not be quite as good as the nearly perfect examples from the past, but it is one of the vintage's superstars. Dense ruby/purple-colored, with a flamboyant nose of blackberries, cherries, kirsch, pepper, spice, and earth, this massive, chewy, full-throttle, hedonistic Zinfandel is exceptionally pure, with a finish that lasts for 35-40+ seconds. The emphasis is on super-ripe fruit, subtle dosages of new oak, and spectacular texture. It should drink well for at least a decade. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/00

A dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by attractive aromas of black currants, smoke, underbrush, and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, and nicely-textured, it should be cellared for another 1-2 years, and consumed over the following 10-12. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/05

Meritage
The flagship offering, and one of the most interesting blends from northern California, is the 2001 Proprietary Red Wine. Composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Sangiovese, and 14% Syrah, it is a structured, closed, but dense, promising, rich, deep, and full-bodied effort. Aromas of black fruits, loamy soil, incense, minerals, pepper, and cedar are present in this impeccably balanced offering. With good underlying acidity and ripe tannin, this knock-out red should handsomely repay cellaring. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/03

Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve appears to be one of the finest produced since the mid-nineties. A saturated purple color is followed by reluctant aromas of creme de cassis, cedar wood, spice box, licorice, earth, and damp forest floor scents. Powerful and exceptionally well-delineated, with a huge, persistent, explosive finish revealing tremendous purity as well as power, it should be forgotten for 2-5 years, and enjoyed over the following two decades. A classic from Conn Valley! Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/03

Eloge
One of the most complex Bordeaux blends to emerge from California over recent years is Conn ValleyÆs Eloge, which is meant to represent a California-styled St.-Emilion. The 2001 Eloge is a brilliant offering. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, it boasts a dense purple color as well as an extraordinary nose of menthol, blackberries, cassis, cedarwood, and spice box. This layered, voluptuously-textured, medium to full-bodied, impressively rich 2001 reveals silky tannin in addition to a long, heady finish. While it is impossible to resist, it will age beautifully for 12-15 more years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/05

Proprietary Red Wine
A fabulous effort, GemstoneÆs 2001 is a 642-case blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Proprietor Paul Frank (a former jeweler, hence the name) has turned a great winemaker loose, resulting in a powerful, rich red with a French-like elegance and complexity. Its deep purple color is accompanied by a sweet, complex nose of spice box, creme de cassis, anise, and white flowers. Dense, full-bodied, restrained, and perfectly balanced, this beauty can be drunk now and over the next 15+ years. Kudos to proprietor Paul Frank. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/05

...continues to live up to my high praise from last year. Rich, elegant, and nuanced, this dense ruby/purple wine offers a nose of creme de cassis, incense, licorice, chocolate, and spice box. Chateau D' Yquem - Vintage - 1947
3 High Shoulder. 3 Very Bin Stained And Tissue Stained Labels. 3 Slightly Corroded Capsules. 1 Slightly Protruding Cork. 3 Dark Amber Color.
A refined Yquem blending wonderful finesse and terrific power. From a very good and famous vintage, this '47 is rich, ripe and sweet, yet more elegant than the '45. Offers caramel and tropical notes, racy botrytis-spiked acidity and a long, clean finish. Wine Spectator, 5/99

147 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 1983
Evolving in a positive fashion, 1983 is turning out to be a fine vintage for Mouton. Although not a big wine, this medium-weight Mouton displays an attractive nose of blackcurrants, black-cherries, olives, and minerals. Medium-bodied, with sweet but noticeable tannin in the finish, as well as beautiful elegance and complexity, this wine is close to reaching its plateau of maturity. I have always thought it resembled this property's 1966. It should last for another 20 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 8/93

166 Diamond Creek - Vintage - 1986
Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace
It is interesting that in all my tastings of Diamond Creek Cabernets from the seventies and early eighties, I never seemed to have a problem with either bottle variation or disappointing performances. In such vintages as 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, and 1978 the wines are consistently magnificent, and, to my palate, among the greatest California Cabernets I have ever tasted. However, in the eighties and nineties, the wines have performed well below expectations. For example, the 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace reveals a leafy, vegetal, weedy nose, astringent, abrasive levels of tannin, and a stewed, gingery, fecal character to the fruit flavors. The wine is unusual, and seemingly troubled. The tasting notes for this section are from two single blind tastings, one conducted in May, 1996, in California, and the other in June, 1996, in Baltimore. 201 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - Vintage - 1961
...At its best the wine is a great Mouton.

Vinas De Gain
The 2001 Vinas de Gain (100% Tempranillo) is a fabulous effort for the price (one of the best buys in the marketplace). Aged in French oak casks (about 40% new) for 12-14 months, it boasts a deep purple color to the rim as well as a perfume of raspberries, blackberries, crushed stones, and white flowers. With extraordinary precision, definition, and finesse, great elegance, wonderful sweetness, medium body, and a gorgeously textured finish, it caresses the palate, offering considerable personality and overall symmetry. It will drink beautifully for 7-8 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/04

Silver Oak Cellars - Vintage - 1999
Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander
The 1991 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a dark ruby color, a rich, ostentatious, sweet vanillin, herb, and blackcurrant-scented nose, and gobs of rich, herb-tinged, juicy fruit, the opulent texture that Silver Oak routinely obtains. There is plenty of fat, glycerin, and alcohol in the long finish. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 10/95

Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve
The terrific 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve offers an opaque purple color, a gorgeous nose of toasty oak, and a silky, concentrated texture with unobtrusive acidity or tannin. The wine possesses layered richness, remarkable balance, sweet, pure fruit, and a finish that lasts for nearly 30 seconds. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 12/98

Anderson's Conn Valley - Vintage - 2002
Eloge
The Eloge, a brilliant Bordeaux-styled blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with some Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and occasionally Petit Verdot, is one of CaliforniaÆs most exciting proprietary reds. The 2002 Eloge (65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Merlot) possesses a dense purple color in addition to sumptuous aromas of sweet black fruits, high class cigar smoke, incense, cedar, and licorice. With superb fat and purity as well as a long, seamless, full-bodied, harmonious finish, it is already appealing, but will easily age for 10-15 years. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 2/05

214 Chateau Beauregard - Vintage - 2000
...this is still an excellent effort, offering a deep ruby color, a sweet nose of mocha and berries, dry, extracted, yet fleshy flavors, medium body, and light to moderate tannin in the finish. There is a certain angularity to the tannin, suggesting 1-3 years of cellaring is required. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03

216 Chateau Margaux - Vintage - 2000
...the 2000 has turned out to be a colossal example of Chateau Margaux that is tasting even better from bottle than it was from cask. Only 40% of the crop made it into this 2000 Margaux, a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. Stylistically, it is somewhat of a hybrid between the succulent, opulent, fleshy 1990, and the more delineated, structured, cooler climate-tasting 1996. The 2000 possesses a saturated ruby/purple color to the rim as well as an extraordinarily promising nose of creme de cassis intermixed with white flowers, licorice, and hints of espresso and toasty oak. There is great intensity, compelling purity, a multi-layered, full-bodied palate, and a finish that goes on for nearly 70+ seconds. Bottled naturally, with no filtration, it is a monumental example of the elegance and power that symbolize this extraordinary vineyard. A tour de force in winemaking, many of my colleagues predicted, far earlier than me, that it would be the wine of the vintage. It is certainly one of the wines of the vintage, but there is plenty of competition, even at this lofty level of quality. Absolutely awesome! Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 4/03

218 Chateau Le Bon Pasteur - Vintage - 2001
A terrific success from the well-known estate of BordeauxÆs famed oenologists Dany and Michel Rolland, the 2001 Bon Pasteur is a super effort for the vintage. Deep plum/purple to the rim, with a sumptuous nose of barbecue spices, smoke, black cherries, mocha, and spice box, this opulent, medium to full-bodied, rich red reveals amazing extract and intensity for a wine from this vintage. 220 Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion - Vintage - 2001
Like its more famous neighbor, Haut-Brion, the 2001 La Mission Haut-Brion has closed down considerably since bottling. A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, it possesses an inky/purple color (deeper than Haut-BrionÆs) in addition to a tight but promising bouquet of scorched earth, wood, tar, black currants, and a hint of hickory wood. Medium-bodied, firm, muscular, and virile, it is a candidate for long term cellaring. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 6/04
