1998 Jadot, Louis Clos de la Roche Rouge Condition: The '98 Clos de la Roche starts out quite aromatically tight and closed with only glimpses of dark pinot fruit and a bit of earth for a nose that leads to big, tannic yet subtlely complex flavors that are quite grapey and extremely primary. However, there is good length if not much nuance and this is still somewhat awkward at present. This will need at least 7 or 8 years of bottle age to really sort itself out but as there is good underlying material, it should be worth the wait. BH BH88 |
