1994 Domaine du Mas Blanc Banyuls Rimage Parce Grenache Condition: Banyuls is an insider's wine. The production is tiny, and much of it is purchased and consumed at France's top restaurants. It is France's answer to vintage port and/or late harvest, medium sweet California Zinfandel. Made from Grenache, Dr. Parce produces numerous cuvees, all of which offer staggering drinking. The 1994 Banyuls Rimage displays an over-ripe, raisiny, jammy black-cherry nose, some pepper, wonderful thickness, an unctuous texture, and a medium dry (slightly sweet) finish with considerable alcohol and glycerin. Its dark ruby/purple color and youthful grapiness suggest it should drink well for 10-15 years. WA90 |
