While certainly not in the same class as the 1979, 1975, 1970, and 1966, Palmer's reputation for quality and finesse is hardly in danger as a result of this effort. Fully mature, with a good dark ruby color, the highly touted Palmer bouquet of berries, flowers, and cassis is readily perceptible. A silky, lush wine, it has been at its peak for over a decade.
