2005 looks like a great vintage for the Coulons, with the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape superb with notes of melted licorice, white chocolate, blackberry, and sweet cherry. There’s some smoke and Provencal herbs also mixed in the complex aromatics. In the mouth it is full-bodied, moderately tannic, with outstanding depth, richness, and purity. This wine will benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age and drink well for 15 or so years. RP
