Good bright medium red. Explosive, complex aromas of raspberry, cherry, truffle and earth. Sweet and concentrated, with deep, fairly youthful red fruit and mineral flavors. Quite sappy and fresh for a 17-year-old wine, though not quite as nuanced in the mouth as on the nose. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and very good vinosity. A strong showing for this wine. ... WS 88 (11/2003): This is surprisingly fresh and flavorful for this vintage. Deep color, with stylish aromas of rosemary, herb and berries. Medium body, medium tannins and a succulently fruity finish. Drink now.
