1997 Lignier, Hubert Morey St Denis Chaffots Rouge
Condition:
Good medium red. Superripe aromas of roasted red berries, plum, animal fur, smoke, leather and game. Thick, sweet and voluptuous, with a strong torrefaction aspect. Longer than Lignier's village Morey, finishing with exotic notes of chocolate, mocha and espresso and unusually sweet tannins. ""This wine typically shows Chambolle-Musigny-like finesse,"" said Romain Lignier, ""but not this year."" My score is for fans of the freakishly ripe style. ST
