1992 Hartwell Napa Valley Stag's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon Condition: There are only micro-quantities produced of this wine from a one acre hillside vineyard in Napa. The 1992 exhibits an impressive dark ruby/purple color, as well as an attractive, pure, cassis-scented nose with earth and toasty new oak notes. Although closed, the wine is full-bodied, aggressively tannic, and astringent. If the tannin melts away, this Cabernet may merit a higher score. For now, it is a ruggedly constituted, hefty wine that does not reveal as much harmony as previous efforts. Do not touch a bottle before the turn of the century. RP WA88 |
