If you have never had a Pinot Meunier-based Champagne (80% Pinot Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir) from the noteworthy Valley of the Marne Pinot Meunier, this is a great place to start! This cuvee (a blend of the 2003 and 2004 vintages) comes from small plots in the villages of Cuchery, Damery, Reuil, and Chapelle Monthadon in the picturesque valley of the Marne. Made by the man that gives the wine his name, Michel Dervin (who is also the wine maker for Domaine J. Laurens in Limoux), this Champagne has a wonderful brioche and subtle fruit nose complemented by concentrated flavors and a delightful lightness on its refreshing finish.
