Sottimano is a "reference-point" producer of Barbaresco. And what's more, the entry-level
wines are made with just as much care as the higher-end wines, deliver tons of value, and, as a result, have caught the adoring eye of the likes of Robert Parker Jr., The Wine Spectator and Decanter Magazine.
Fausoni is a very small, south west-facing vineyard in Neive. It is
so small in fact, that Sottimano is the only house making a Fausoni at
this time! Though the vintage was characterized by extreme heat throughout the growing season, the 2003 "Fausoni," from nearly 50-year old vines, is the most floral of
Sottimano's Barbaresco offerings. With aromas of cassis, currant and mint, and a
firm core of vibrant acidity, this wine will continue to drink well through 2015 despite the difficult vintage.
