Steve Edmund's That Old Black Magic is truly a California Red Wine - a blend of Grenache and Syrah fruit sourced from superb vineyard sites like Eaglepoint Ranch in Mendocino County and Wylie and Fenaughty Vineyards in El Dorado County.  It is his unique partnership with the dedicated farmer's of these under the radar vineyard sites, that is truly at the core of these remarkable wines first noticed by Robert Parker Jr. more than 25 years ago.  

The 2006 That Old Black Magic displays a fresh, vibrant nose that teases with licorice, dried roses, black fruit, pepper, lavender and sage. Very well-mannered on the palate,  equal parts expressiveness and restraint, with a pleasant lightness that is not consistent with it's over fourteen and change alcohol.  Flavors are framed by attractive, firm tannins, and a core note of iron.
