From the winery: "The 2008 Red Label is a great expression of Sonoma County Pinot Noir
with a focus on Russian River fruit and earthiness. Initially, the nose
is deeper and darker than in previous vintages with the earthier side
of the Russian River in the forefront and dark fruit following, but
with just a little air, the fruit really blossoms and shifts to the red
with bright cherry and cherry candy overtaking a background of black
cherry and plum. Notes of tobacco and spice with cloves and a hint of
white pepper complement the fruit along with sweet floral notes and
creamy vanilla. While the acidic balance keeps the palate fresh, there
is also an overall velvety quality to the texture which really fleshes
out the fruit. As the Red Label opens up further and throughout the
finish, strawberry and cola break through, joining the rest of the rich
fruit profile, all still enveloped in spice and earthiness."
