Louis-Claude's vineyards came to him by inheritance and the Desvignes family (surname literally meaning "of the vine"). They have been making Morgon for generations. The vineyards are on the Montagne de Py, in the heart of the Morgon cru, where the fruit is reputed to be of far superior quality to anything that is produced in the outlying areas. This is without question a more serious, age-worthy Beaujolais - with up to fifteen years of cellar potential. The 2006 Morgon blossoms with notes of dark cherry, raspberry and dark truffle.
