Founded in 1822, Bodegas Argueso still operates from the original location, which is now over 250 years old. Manzanilla is a dry aperitif style sherry produced from Palomino grapes in the Atlantic coastal town of Sanlucar de Barrameda. After fermentation the wine is fortified to 15% alcohol and then barrel aged for at least six months. It is then transferred to a solera system where it is blended and aged for 9-10 years before bottling. During the aging process, Manzanilla Sherry is coated by an indigenous wild yeast known as flor, which protects it from oxidation and imparts a distinctive bready flavor. This Sherry is very dry, tangy, almost salty with aromas and flavors of nuts and cooked apples.
