Sample pack contains four bottles; one of each of the following in a pretty sweet and very eco-friendly 58 Degrees Reusable Wine Tote:
2007 Zinfandel, Lodi Old Vine "Mischievous" ($20)
-Bronze - San Francisco Chronicle Competition
This deep-hued wine is a blend from five different old vine zinfandel vineyards. Each bring their unique personalities that, when combined, equal the classic fruit-forward characteristics that constitute the center-piece of all great lodi wines. The rich, ripe berry flavors are high-lighted with a subtle hint of soft vanilla-oak
2007 Zinfandel ,Lodi Old Vine, Dry Farmed "Oblivious" ($24)
-Tri-Metal - Lodi International Wine Awards
-Bronze - San Francisco Chronicle Competition
-12 Best Zins Of Lodi
The fact that this is dry farmed (watered only when it rains) contributes to the intensity of this nearly century old vineyard. The low yield of small berried clusters produces an extremely concentrated, dark, complex zinfandel that taste great now, but will only get better with time.
2007 Zinfandel, Rous Vineyard "Luxurious" ($28)
Being one of the older vineyards in the area (100 + years), it consistently produces a wine with a classic expression of what lodi has to offer. The up-front fruit characteristics are framed with subtle hints bing cherries and violets. The mix of new french and american oak add a lingering vanilla finish.
