The 2008 ASPRO CLASSIC is a blend of Robola, Sauvignon Blanc and
Tsaoussi, fermented on the lees for two weeks. This is dominated by the
Sauvignon Blanc on opening, with all of those classic green, cut grass
nuances, but it does round into form, and seems a bit less distinctive
(for better or worse) than its 2007 counterpart as it warms up. It has
good depth for its style and the type of grapes. Rather crisp, with a
mouthwatering finish, it has a touch of sour lemon evident on the
finish. This is a good warm weather wine choice, refreshing and
invigorating. It becomes a bit friendlier and less austere as it warms
up. It may hold a bit, but drink it young. Drink now-2011.
“Fresh, fruity and flirty, this white offers vanilla, fresh
fruit and minerals on the nose and on the palate, a lovely balance of citrus,
spice and flowers. Vibrant and layered, with a minerally, cheerful finish.”
