The Limestone
soils of Sancerre produce some of most sought after white wines in all
of France. These easy-drinking,mineral-rich Sauvignon Blancs are among
the most complex wines you can find, and are great aperitifs and fine
complements to food.
Caves du Prieuré, relies on low-yielding vineyards planted on limestone
soils rich in flint deposits, and a strict selection of the grapes to
ensure under-ripe fruit does not get into the fermentation vat. They
are written up every year in the Hachette guide as one of the finest
small producers of Sancerre.
Fragrant
aromas of herbs, grapefruit and citrus dominate the nose. This wine is
very refreshing with crisp acidity, typical of Sancerre, and elegant
citrus fruit flavors. The finish offers a fine balance of rich fruit
and mineral flavors. This wine is great alone or with all kinds of
seafood (especially grilled salmon steaks), heavily seasoned dishes,
Asian cuisine and goat cheese. Drink now to 2011. |
