This winery was founded by the Faletti family. Some credit the Marchesi Faletti with creating what is now known as Barolo wine. The Faletti family line ended in 1864 with the death of Marchesa Giulia Colbert de Maulevrier. The estate was subsequently acquired by Pietro Emilio Abbona who some credit with expanding Barolo’s reputation beyond Italy. This classic Piedmontese wine is aged in medium sized oak casks for only six months. It has a “…vigorous, but balanced character…offers scents of wild berries and black currants and a flavor that is warm and hearty” Winery notes. |
