Masi vineyards have been in the Boscaini family for six generations. This wine comes from the Valpolicella Classico DOC region of Veneto where both Valpolicella and Amarone wines are produced. Amarones are typically made from the same grape varietals as Valpolicellas - primarily Corvina (the region's dominant grape) blended with Rondinella, Molinara and sometimes Negrara. With Amarones, however, the grapes are left on the vine longer, and then dried out on bamboo racks for 3 to 4 months to concentrate the sugars. ""Deep ruby red colour with violet tinges to the edges. Clean, very powerful and complex on the
nose with good alcoholic backbone amid the sweet aromas of dried prunes and raisins. Soft and dry on the palate with typical baked cherry flavours mixed with hints of cocoa and cinnamon.
Attractively long finishing and full-bodied with soft tannins."" Winery notes. |
