Clos de Los Siete is a project started by Michael Rolland after his
visit to Argentina in 1988. With Michaels’ reputation as the traveling
winemaker it only made since that he try his touch in the fertile soils
of South America. With him he brought some serious talent from Pomerol
and began the building of his state of the art gravity flow winery and
meticulously planted vineyards. This wine is a crafted after the
Merlot forward wines of the right bank, but with the Clos de Los Siete
Malbec is the Headliner. The assemblage is 45% Malbec, 35% Merlot, 10%
Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Syrah. The wine has all those familiar
chocolate, cider box, and spice characteristics of the Mendoza with the
pedigree of Bordeaux’s top winemakers orchestrating the cuvee.

(48%
malbec, 28% merlot, and 12% each cabernet and syrah) Bright, full
ruby-red. Crushed black fruits, mocha, bitter chocolate, licorice and
smoked meat on the nose. Sweet, penetrating and firm-edged; aromatic in
the mouth but tightly wound today. I like this wine's balance of
sweetness and acidity. The tannins are firm but not quite hard. This
energetic wine needs time to soften. (Dourthe USA, Rockville, MD) 89(+?) points
