| Duval is one of Australia's most highly regarded winemakers, overseeing the entire Penfolds range as Chief Winemaker for the period 1986-2002. During this time he was responsible for the making of Grange, taking the marquee to new heights including being awarded Wine Spectator's "Wine of the Year" in 1995.
"A polished, silky-fine shiraz-based Barossa blend with grenache and mourvèdre. Its spicy aromas of cranberries, plums and redcurrants reveal a restrained use of oak, with hints of blueberry liqueur and meaty undertones. Framed by fine-grained and loose-knit tannins, its slightly jammy expression of spicy black and red berry fruit delivers length and smoothness, finishing with a lingering core of intense fruit and licorice. (Barossa Valley, 18.3/94, drink 2009-2012)" 94 points, Jeremy Oliver 03/22/06. | |
