| "A spicy, savoury blend with genuine southern Rhone pretensions. Perfumed and floral, its bursts with dark aromas of jammy fruit, with a suggestion of bubblegum and acetone. Sumptuous, yet supple and smooth, its intense, well-ripened and slightly meaty fruit is framed by tight-knit tannins and acids. (18.4, drink 2006-2009+.)" 94 pts, Jeremy Oliver's On Wine, 10.01.02
"The 2001 Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre Olive Hill (31%, 41% and 28% respectively) is aged completely in French oak, of which about 30% is new. A super effort, it boasts a dense ruby/purple color as well as a fragrant bouquet of cigar box intermixed with blackberries, currants, spice, pepper, and a touch of vanilla. Well-delineated and pure, with a sweet, expansive mid-palate, and a long, concentrated, full-bodied finish, it will last for a decade or more." 93 pts, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, August 2003. | |
