| By Josh Raynolds Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 07 "Light straw. Vibrant citrus, melon and floral aromas, with a zesty mineral undertone. Brisk lime and grapefruit flavors offer excellent cut, depth and clarity, and finish with outstanding persistence. This is built to repay a few years' aging. 90 points."
"Lalla Gully vineyard is nestled in a sheltered and picturesque amphitheatre in the Pipers River region of north-east Tasmania. A key focus at Lalla Gully vineyard is on capturing optimal sunlight interception; experimenting with an array of variations in grapevine shoot positioning, canopy management and Lyre ‘V’ trellising systems. Lower yields for the 2006 vintage resulted in concentrated fruit flavours whilst still maintaining superb crisp natural acidity. Fruit was hand picked and fermented in small parcels under cool temperature controlled stainless steel vats to retain delicate varietal aromas and floral notes. Capturing the unique terroir of Tasmania and cool-climate varietal characteristics, the 2006 Lalla Gully Riesling displays beautiful lime-zest and citrus flavours with a lingering refreshing mineral finish."
