"While it appears to be driven simply by dark plum and cherry fruit, structural and flavour complexity come through strongly on the spicy, long, finish. Screwcap. 13.5º alc. Rating 92. Date Tasted Sep 07." James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion

"This label single-handedly set new world heights for sub-$20 Pinot some years ago, and with each successive release it has reset its own altitude. It is utterly fragrant, with layers of cherry/berry fruit, brilliant balance and length." 90 points, Tyson Stelzer, WBM, May 2008.

"I’d guess this can be had for under the quoted RRP which makes it a fair old bargain. It is also nice to see a red wine from the 2007 Yarra Vintage. There can’t be too much about. A good mix of bright cherry fruit, leaf litter, smoke, stem and spice make this both attractive and varietal. On the palate light to medium bodied with red fruit, sour cherry and spice that reminds me a little of sweet and sour sauce. There is a bit of stemmy strictness in there to give backbone and fresh and refreshing acidity that carries on to a finish of good length closing with spice and tangy red fruits. You could say this is an excellent weekday quaffing pinot, which may be damning it with faint praise, but it’s packed with pinot satisfaction, especially considering the price." 90 points, Gary Walsh, (www.winorama.com.au), 3 February 2008

"It's almost impossible to find good, cheap pinot, but the Gulf Station is just that. Pure varietal fruit flavours, with structure and just a hint of pinot-noir funk. The perfect budget pinot, if that's not an oxymoron." Four Stars, Fergus McGhie, Canberra Times, 14 November 2007.
