| The 1996 Cabernet/Merlot (a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot from 36-year old vines) is slightly tough-textured, but almost Bordeaux-like in its earthy, black currant style with nicely balanced wood and tannin. The wine is slightly austere, but well-made, and clean. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the following 7-8 years. It is designed for tasters who prefer their reds on the leaner side of the stylistic spectrum.--Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, June 2001. | |
