Wise Vineyards Chardonnay 'Donnybrook' 2002 --Jeremy Oliver 94 750ml

$24.99

The wine is golden straw in colour and displays enticing aromas of pink grapefruit, nectarine and toasty oak, while the palate shows flavorsome rockmelon, pear and stone fruit characters. The fruit intensity is supported by well-integrated French oak, which is further enhanced by underlying lemon lime liveliness. Enjoy this wine now or be rewarded with cellaring for up to 5 years.

"A smooth, sumptuous and complete chardonnay that would rate even higher was it not for a fraction of hotness at the finish. Its delicate tropical aromas of grapefruit and melon integrate well with nutty, mealy oak and leesy complexity. Smooth and seamless, it’s long, fine-grained and elegant, with tightly focused grapefruit/melon/pineapple fruit wrapped in citrusy acids. (Donnybrook Valley, 18.5/94, drink 2004-2007+)"  Jeremy Oliver's On Wine, 12.19.04
