Wolf Blass Shiraz 'Platinum Label' 2001 --Jeremy Oliver 97 750ml

"The only problem about this outstanding Adelaide Hills shiraz is that despite its promise of exceptional longevity, which its screwtop cap will only enhance, it is so drinkable right now that I doubt much will ever be tasted anywhere near its best. Laced with spicy, musky scents of violets and black pepper, cassis and raspberries blueberries and blackberries, it’s supported by vanilla and bubblegum-like new oak aromas. A long, plush palate of unbelievably pure, pristine and vibrant dark berry and plum fruits is tightly integrated with new oak and supported by the finest of tannins. It might be the most expensive, but it’s the best Wolf Blass wine ever released. 19.3, drink 2013-2021+."  Jeremy Oliver's On Wine, 04.16.04.

"Ripe and jazzy, a juicy mouthful of blackberry, cherry and coffee flavors, supported by bristling acidity but generous enough to make it sing through the long, cedar-inflected finish. Best from 2006 through 2015. 500 cases imported. (HS)"  The Wine Spectator, Sept. 30, 2004.
