OKTOBER 2009

Oktoberfest Beer Tastings

After a two week hiatus, Friday night beer tastings are coming back in a big way. Kicking things off will be the incredibly expressive beers of the Haandbryggeriet Brewery from Drammen, Norway. Five beers including a wheat stout, a Norse porter, IPA, double IPA, and the Norwegian Wood (a smoked ale spiced with juniper) will be poured from 6:30p to 8:30p on October 9th.

The following Friday is Whiskey Fest presented by The Malt Advocate at the Marriott here in the city. For any fans of distilled beer, this is a don't miss annual gathering of the best whiskeys from around the world. Needless to say no beer tasting is scheduled for October 16th at the shop…you know where we’ll be!

The 23rd will see the long time friends of the Jug Shop, Sierra Nevada in the house with three wet hop beers being poured in addition to their full line of year around brews. Most exciting is the only 100% estate grown beer in the US. 6:30 to 8:30p on October 23rd.

Closing out the month of October will be our second tasting of Japanese craft beer. From the Baird brewery two beers, Kurofune Porter and Red Rose Amber Ale will be sampled along with six brews from Ise Kadoya including a Pale Ale, IPA, Tipple Hop, Brown, Stout, and brown rice ale. October 31st, 6:30 to 8:30p
