Meet Our Founder: Sam Chen

Echelonwines is managed by Sam Chen, a wine expert and professional chef with more than 15 years of experience in the food and wine industry. Sam earned a degree in Culinary Arts from the California Culinary Academy, as well as a B.S. in Construction Engineering from University of California, Berkeley.

Sam lives and breathes wine-in a purely healthy way, of course! He devotes over 80 hours a week to tasting, writing about, and selling fine wines. Sam's keen palate and culinary training enable him to identify all of the components in a given wine, after which he methodically analyzes and grades what he's tasted. As many of Sam's customers can attest, he has a real talent for recommending great wines.

Through his extensive personal network of winemakers, winery owners, and other wine industry professionals, Sam aims to identify specific vintages and special projects that are true winners before the mainstream critics review them.
